The Poppin Picasso Story

I didn’t start painting because of some grand plan — I was BORED. At the time, I was deep into photography, but one random afternoon the creative bug hit to try my hand at something different. I grabbed a cheap beginner’s kit — brushes, canvases, a little paint — cracked open a bottle of Belair, and went for it. The first piece? Messy as hell, but it felt good. It felt like mine.

Curious, I posted it on Snapchat. To my surprise, the replies poured in: “Okay Picasso, I see you!” That little bit of hype was all I needed to make another one the next day… and the next. Soon, I was hooked.

Then came my ex. In the middle of our breakup she hit me with: “So you think you’re Picasso now??” At that emotionally charged moment, I decided — if I was going to be "Picasso", I’d be the most POPPIN Picasso. And that’s how the name was born.

Finding the Look

At first, I was just making random abstract pieces. Fun, but messy — like a 4th grade art show. Truth was, I wanted a LOOK that felt bold and recognizable. So I kept experimenting over the next few years until two styles eventually stuck: "Waves" and "Bars".

Both styles were being received pretty well, but it felt confusing. One day, I asked my mom for her opinion. She said the Waves felt creative, but the Bars stood out and caught attention. That was all I needed to hear. I dropped Waves completely and went all-in on the Bars. Clean, structured, instantly recognizable. A design that could change colors, match any vibe, and still scream POPPIN.

Why I Do This

Since day one, everyone kept telling me: “You should put your art in a gallery.” So one day, I decided to venture out and actually see what galleries had to offer. What I found was empty rooms, pretentious staff, and long-winded stories about pieces I couldn’t connect with. It felt fake.

I didn’t want to play that game. For me, this was supposed to be SIMPLE: you see it, you like it, you take it home. I wasn’t making “ART” in the traditional sense — I was building something recognizable. Something people could show off. Something that connects, not separates.

This is WHY Poppin Picasso exists. Not to blend in or sit in a gallery. It’s about being BOLD ON PURPOSE — creating a look that’s exclusive, striking, and instantly recognizable. A piece you’re proud to put on your wall, pose with, and make part of your story.

This isn’t art.
This is POPPIN.
